We already knew HTC has a plastic-bodied version of the HTC One (M8) ready to hit the market thanks to some information that went live on the HTC Chinese site late last week. In addition to the change in body material, the new HTC One (E8) comes with a regular, 13MP camera instead of HTC’s duo camera system. Some markets will also see a dual-SIM version of the device, including India and Hong Kong. It is unclear whether the HTC One (E8) will make it to the U.S. market. HTC has now issued an official press release to welcome the device to their portfolio.

One of the big questions about the device has been pricing. When Apple released the iPhone 5S and 5C models last year, one of the criticisms was that there was not enough of a price difference between them, especially to make the 5C an attractive alternative. The question has been whether HTC may make a similar mistake or would the new plastic-body variant of their flagship see a steep price reduction. It appears the HTC One (E8) will be priced at 2,799 yuan ($448 USD) which is close to half the price of the HTC One (M8). That sounds like a pretty good deal for the buyer who is not so interested in the body material or having the absolute top of the line device from a manufacturer.
